The Greatest Barcelona XI of all time

Picture
Victor Valdes | 2002-2014 | The most successful goalkeeper in the history of the club. His first few years were rocky, but he evolved into a shot-stopper who had brilliant reflexes and was comfortable with the ball at his feet. He was the foundation for the tiki-taka football Barca have mastered over the past decade.

Dani Alves | 2008-present | Signed for €30 million from Sevilla, he established himself as the best right-back in the world at Camp Nou. He was a key part of Pep Guardiola's team and his superb athleticism made him an unstoppable force attacking down the right flank.
Ronald Koeman | 1989-1995 | The top-scoring defender in the club's history, he hit a remarkable 102 goals during his six years in Catalunya. He was part of Johan Cryuff's 'Dream Team' that won Barca's first European Cup and he scored the match-winning goal in that 1992 final against Sampdoria.
Carles Puyol | 1999-2014 | The centre-back retired in the summer after a career of devoted service to the club. His record with Barca is unlikely to be matched and his trophy haul included six La Liga titles and three Champions Leagues. A rock at the back and a real leader.
Joan Segarra | 1949-1965 | The defender was captain of the 'Barca of Trophies' in the 1950s and is the fifth-most capped player in the club's history. Segarra gave everything on the pitch, but always showed respect and was never dirty. He was admired equally by team-mates and opponents due to his fair play. It is famously said that throughout his career he only kicked an opponent once and that was an accident.

Johan Neeskens | 1974-79 | The energetic midfielder was hugely popular with fans during the late 1970s. He had impressive physical strength, which he combined with his great ability to chip in with goals. Neeskens was also famous at Camp Nou for his powerful penalties.
Xavi | 1998-present day | One of the best midfielders in the history of the game, Xavi has become a symbol of the club. Five-hundred-and-thirty-nine first team matches have led to 15 titles and many great memories. He might now be at the end of his career but Camp Nou still hangs on to the magical moments conjured up by his boots.

Andres Iniesta | 2002-present day | The attacking midfielder has been at the heart of the most successul period in Barca's history. So natural a talent is Iniesta that the ball often seems to be glued to his feet. His vision and technique personify the football played at Camp Nou over the past decade and he remains a crucial component under Luis Enrique.
Ronaldinho | 2003-2008 | One of the most talented footballers to have ever graced the famed Camp Nou turf. Ronaldinho was already a huge star when he joined the club and is one of the few Barca players to have been honoured with a standing ovation by Real Madrid fans at the Santiago Bernabeu. Thanks to Ronaldinho, Barca became known for their attractive attacking football, which later evolved into the tiki-taka brilliance of Pep Guardiola.
Johan Cruyff | 1973-1978 | The embodiment of Total Football. Winner of three Ballons d'Or, he justified his world-record price-tag from the moment he joined from Ajax in 1973. His smart play, unmatched technique and commanding leadership enabled Barca to win their first title in 14 years in 1974. He later coached the club to many trophies and his influence at the club is still being felt now.

Lionel Messi 2004-present day | Considered by some as the greatest footballer in history, Messi has won everything possible - individually and collectively - as a Barca player. He claimed four Ballons d'Or in a row during the club's most prolific period and has shattered virtually every possible record in the game. An unstoppable dribbler in full flow with a beautiful left foot.
